2 Days Sweetwaters Flying Safari From Nairobi Itinerary

Day 1:Nairobi – Fly to Ol Pejeta Sweetwaters Conservancy.

This morning we fly from Nairobi to Nanyuki and transfer to Sweetwaters Game Reserve/ Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The Reserve is East Africa’s Largest Black Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees and holds some of the highest predator densities in Kenya.

It is situated between the foot hills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snowcapped Mount Kenya, an area considered to be semi-arid. The Conservancy covers an area of 90,000 acres of the previously privately owned Ol Pejeta ranch, now known as the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. After Lunch relax before departing for an afternoon game-drive.

In addition to the chimps and the black rhinos, you will have a chance to view an amazing variety of wildlife such as zebra, lion, leopard, thomson’s gazelle, grant’s gazelle, oryx, eland, baboon, elephant and various species of birds.

Day 2: Ol Pejeta Sweetwaters Conservancy – Fly to Nairobi

A morning game drive is scheduled for this day. We awaken today to the sights and sounds of big game country. In addition to elephant, antelope, zebra, lion, Cheetah, Leopard, buffalo and the rare black rhino, nearly every vista within the park is framed by majestic Mount Kenya in the distance.

Sweetwater’s Game Reserve is one of only for private game reserves in Kenya and provides visitors with a unique combination of facilities and activities. This 24,000 acres reserve situated within Ol Pejeta Conservancy enjoys magnificent views across the plains to the snow-capped peaks of Mt. Kenya, and has abundance of wildlife and tropical vegetation.

Here guest enjoys special activities such as game walk, night game drives, horse-back game drives and meals in the bush. The conservancy is famous for its non-indigenous chimpanzees at the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only one of its kind in Kenya.

The riverine forest and savannah grasslands that make up the sanctuary are home to orphaned chimpanzees from the Jane Goodall Institute in Burundi which established a chimpanzee sanctuary at the site. The sanctuary does not encourage breeding, but recognizes the importance of raising baby chimpanzees to adulthood.

A walk around the sanctuary will give you an opportunity to spot the orphaned chimps. The Black Rhino Sanctuary is home to 86 black rhinos after the single largest rhino translocation ever undertaken in East Africa on February 3, 2007. The translocation was a combined effort between Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the Kenya Wildlife Service and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.

After breakfast we take our bush flight and return back to Nairobi by mid morning
